Telok Blangah neighbourhood street scene

I am Clara. I live in Henderson, in a flat where the corridor lamp buzzes on humid nights and the lift mirror has a scratch at exactly child height. I work in admin — spreadsheets, polite emails, the kind of day that looks flat until you walk home and notice something small has shifted. I started DailyVibe because I wanted a place to keep the shifts before they smoothed out.

I write about Telok Blangah, Mount Faber, HarbourFront, the food centre where the toast runs out early, the park bench that faces the port lights. I am not a journalist, not a critic, not anyone with credentials worth listing. I am someone who counts stairs on the way up — forty-two, always forty-two — and who believes a day has a pulse you can feel if you stop trying to name it too quickly.

What I notice: the way a bus-stop shade covers only one bench. The kettle ring left on the counter after everyone has left. The tile seam in the void deck that always catches my shoe. The hour between last light and first lamp when the block sounds different. I write in first person because these are my eyes, my routes, my small confessions. I do not speak for my neighbours or for Singapore as a whole.

I grew up moving between rental flats and this current address is the first place that feels like mine — not because it is grand, but because I know the stair count and the auntie at the provision shop who asks if I have eaten. Telok Blangah is not a backdrop. It is the room I live inside.

If you read something here and think I have got a detail wrong — a road name, a direction, a memory — please write to me. I would rather correct than perform certainty I do not have.

Portrait of Clara

I write when the day leaves an afterglow I cannot shake — not dramatic, just persistent. That is enough.

A note on this blog

This site is my personal blog. What you read here comes from my own days, my own opinions, and the way I remember things when I write them down. Nothing here is meant as medical, legal, financial, fitness or professional guidance — just reflections from one person living near Telok Blangah. I describe places and moments as I see them; I do not speak for anyone else, and I try to write about my neighbourhood with care. If something is inaccurate, please tell me and I will correct it.
